History
Origins (2015-2019)
In December 2015, a watchmaker known only as the Warden established his workshop in Spade's Lightbulb, Pandora With an initial investment of approximately 2 million yen, he purchased essential tools for repair work, video production equipment, and three severely damaged vintage timepieces: a first-generation Seiko KPH777 tachymeter in copper, bluish-green, and black; a Grand Seiko 99GS VFA in gold with a cream dial; and a Grand Seiko 562CX chronograph in gold. Despite their condition, all three watches were rare and highly valuable. Without hesitation, the Warden began restoring them—marking the beginning of Anarkadia.
The restoration process of these first watches was documented and published to both social media platforms and a proprietary video site owned by Anarkadia. The videos quickly gained popularity for their educational content, high-level craftsmanship, and humorous commentary. Viewers particularly noted The Warden’s entertaining linguistic style, which alternated unpredictably between a rough Osaka gangster dialect and a profane New York accent—prompting comparisons such as “me when i’m goro majima and have to share a brain with jschlatt.”
Several consistent elements became signature features of his videos: each begins with either “Hello, stranger.” or “こんにちは、ストレンジャ.” accompanied by a peace sign, and concludes with either “Beautiful, thank you.” or “ナイス、ありがとう.” followed by an OK sign and folded hands.
Anarkadia quickly built a reputation for taking on timepieces that most watchmakers deemed irreparable. The company’s bold philosophy—“An unrepairable watch does not exist.”—set it apart in the industry. All restored watches were offered for sale on the Anarkadia website at premium prices. However, each purchase included two lifetime guarantees: a repair contract, which promised full coverage of any future damage; and a service guarantee, which simply stated, “This timepiece’s rate portrays the wearer’s reality, and does not need to be serviced.” To date, there has been no documented evidence contradicting either claim.
As The Warden’s renown grew—respected for both his technical mastery and his charismatic presence—so did the legend of Anarkadia. The company became known not just for its technical excellence, but for its mystique and individuality. The Warden continues to release exactly seven new restoration videos each month, further fueling curiosity about his origins and the enigmatic nature of Anarkadia. Though, no further information about the company or the Warden surfaced for years.
